The Village of Sunrise Beach is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Full Time Seasonal Worker.
The Public Works Full Time Seasonal Worker performs seasonal maintenance, labor, groundskeeping, street, facility, and public infrastructure support duties for the Village of Sunrise Beach. This position supports the Public Works Department by assisting with routine maintenance, outdoor work, special projects, and other tasks necessary to help keep Village property, roads, facilities, and public areas clean, safe, and well maintained.
Primary Duties:
The Public Works Full Time Seasonal Worker will assist with general maintenance and labor duties throughout the Village. Duties may include mowing, trimming, weed eating, brush removal, litter pickup, cleaning public areas, maintaining rights-of-way, assisting with road and drainage maintenance, and helping with seasonal upkeep of Village property.
The position may assist with street and roadway maintenance, including pothole patching, sign maintenance, debris removal, culvert and ditch cleaning, stormwater drainage work, and other minor repairs or maintenance projects.
Additional duties may include assisting with maintenance of Village buildings, grounds, parking areas, equipment, tools, and storage areas. The employee may help load, unload, move, organize, and inventory materials, supplies, tools, and equipment.
The Public Works Full Time Seasonal Worker may also assist with setup, cleanup, and support for Village events, public meetings, community activities, seasonal projects, and other special assignments.
General duties include operating hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and other equipment as assigned; cleaning and maintaining work areas; reporting maintenance concerns; following safety procedures; and performing other related duties as assigned by the Public Works Supervisor or Village administration.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must possess:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to perform manual labor and outdoor work.
Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Basic communication skills.
Ability to interact professionally with Village staff, residents, contractors, and the public.
Ability to operate basic hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, and maintenance equipment.
Prior experience in public works, maintenance, landscaping, construction, groundskeeping, equipment operation, or related work is preferred but not required.
Requirements:
Applicants must be able to successfully complete all required pre-employment screening, which may include:
Criminal history check.
Drug screening.
Valid driver’s license.
Any other screening required by the Village of Sunrise Beach.
The successful applicant must be able to work safely, follow Village policies and procedures, and represent the Village in a professional manner.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves outdoor work and manual labor. Applicants must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, lift, carry, push, and pull as needed. Work may include lifting tools, equipment, supplies, brush, debris, or materials. The position may require working in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and other seasonal conditions.
Schedule and Compensation:
Schedule: Typically, 40 plus hours per week, but may vary based on department needs, weather, projects, and seasonal workload.
Pay: Hourly pay rate starts at $18 per hour.
Benefits: This is a seasonal position and does not include full-time employee benefits unless otherwise provided by the Village of Sunrise Beach.
